CARES Project Name: Children’s Advocacy for Resilient Environment Situation DOMAIN: Children and young adolescents are healthy and actively participate in community lifePATHWAY: Positive engagement for CYA 2,211 children (1105 female and 1106 male) participated in the CD sessions that focused on the DRR and Child’s Rights during emergency. The sessions also included the making of indigenous toys such as ball, watch and whistle made of coconut leaves which highlighted the importance of being resourceful of our enrolled children to provide psycho- social support to other children in times of crisis. Also, 132 children from the Municipal and Barangay associations participated in the organizational capacity assessment. The assessment was made to help their organization elevate themselves and make plan of action. 27 CCS facilitators are trained and prepositioned. Regular meeting was conducted to them. Another important outcome of the project is the recognition of the LGUs in child development activities as potential venue to serve children in their communities. They now allot funds and provide inputs in community-based celebration of Children’s Month which is also integrated to CD sessions. For the Children’s Month celebration alone, 2,174 (970 males; 1,204 females) were reached this year.
