ENHANCE

ENHANCE (Ensuring Nutrition, Health and Children’s Early Learning Strengthened with Responsive and Protective Parenting (ENHANCERPP) Project

For this age-group, the project aims to develop Infants and Young Children achieve their full potential, by providing physical and mental health, as they enjoy an enabling environment.

The federation is proud of how this project continuously succeed because of its:

  • Strong ECCD campaign that resulted to 133% increase in its target to access early childhood program reported.
  • 26 trained community support structures on positive discipline that continuously conducts parenting
sessions, equipped with reflective monitoring skill.
  • Established 7 SNP sites practicing culture-sensitive curriculum and developmentally-appropriate
    approaches
  • Partner communities starting to integrate CBCPM mapping results in their financial plan

And although the COVID-19 is expected to bring challenges in the project implementation during the 3rd and 4th quarter, it became an opportunity for the 5 trained support groups to conduct pilot home-based sessions to 79 families during quarantine period.

Lessons from the Pandemic

The training of community support structures was “unexpected” to hit two birds with one stone. The federation is fortunate enough to have built strong partnership with ECD workers that resulted to a continuous home-based sessions despite of pandemic.

With regard to 79 family-participants of the sessions, positive responses were reflected on their feedbacks. According to them, the activity gave them the chance to learn, bond and express their experiences that lightens their stress and anxiety during confinement at home.

Also noteworthy to mention is the appreciation of families in the cash transfer program wherein 496 children and their families benefited. This aid from ChildFund Philippines and ChildFund Korea directly helped families provide their needs in time where income of families were very limited.

The use of communication technology (gadgets and apps) also became very helpful when physical contact was not possible. And when internet signal was not available, the federation’s resourcefulness enabled them to create methods on how they can still reach beneficiaries like using mobile phones in loud speaker mode in small group sessions.
