LS 2 LS 2 (6-14 yo) targeted 2 major outputs as follows: OUTPUT1: Families and their Children are dynamically engaged in child protection and DRM actions in communities and homes. OUTPUT 2: Families are practicing child protection and disaster resilient interventions. LS 2, under FDR, has a lot to celebrate this fiscal year. Its accomplishments include 3, 529 schooling children reached from its support to self-learning module production. There are also 1,0005/1,000 or 100.5% target parents reached by its thematic home-based/community-based parenting sessions. There are 28 facilitators (1 facilitator : 5 families)who helped in making this possible. To augment family’s economic capability, 111 women/caregivers become involved in pilot Self-Help Group or SHeG (loan and savings mobilization). They were able to mobilize P37,000.00 in their first 2 months of savings. A mother-participant of home-based session patiently assists her son in her school module. Two girls happily receive home-based material support in the forms of hygiene kit and milk. Co-implementing FDR, in the context of LS 2, has brought 3 major interventions. These were later on realized as not only appropriate but doable despite pandemic situation. Food Always in the Home (FAITH) Caring for the environment, food security, preparing natural and nutritious meals, savings on food, family bonding, stress reliever, and extra livelihood are just some of the benefits this intervention. It was not new at all, but the context of pandemic helped families realized the advantages of this back to basic activity at home. E-BALDE in Every Family (EBEF) Experiencing typhoons and floods, with COVID-19 still present, increased the interests of community people in Reina about Disaster Preparedness. Even the barangay and local government units work with the Federation in awareness raising and monitoring of DRR-related activities and outputs. SHeG (Slelf Help Group-loan & savings mobilization) Self-reliance is one lesson taught by the pandemic among parents. Engaging in savings and small-scale entrepreneurship are best way to practice financial literacy in every family. Community Self Help Group can also help promote such valuable knowledge and skills of saving and growing family finances. It also promotes sense of financial security because the members know they can easily make loans without thinking of high interest rates. Fresh and nutritious vegetables are enjoyed by families –a literal “farm to table” lifestyle. “As I was making my own emergency map, I felt more secured because I know I am more ready than before. It is important for each family to have the evacuation map and emergency kit. Every family member should also be involved in this activity.”ANGIE MIRAS, Gen. Nakar “Not only the children, but FATHERS learned how to wash hands properly.” Julie Astoveza, Mother from Brgy. Batangan
