PRO CHILD LS2 Project : PRO CHILD (Promoting Child`s Holistic and Integrated Lifelong Development) Domain : CYA have positive relationships in supportive homes and communitiesPathway : Economically Resilient Households 64 mothers are involved in savings activity. Four (4) COMSCA Groups were functional and organized. The total savings is amounting to Php. 22,770.00 . Based from household`s self- report , they were able to lend a capital and manage a small sari- sari store, some used their loans for educational needs of their children. Others were used for family`s food consumptions and medical needs of the family. 1,378 or 42% enrolled families are 4P’s beneficiaries where they receive support from the Government in terms of following the conditionalities (sending their children to school, hospitalization support). These households received social protection services from the government such as PhilHealth and Conditional Cash Transfer. Further, through the partnership with 4P’s these parents are also provided with parenting sessions on financial literacy, budgeting and savings activity, child rearing and other child protection issues including gender and development . ENRICH peer tutorial session Domain : Children and young adolescents have literacy, numeracy and critical life skills to make healthy decision.Pathway : Quality, inclusive formal and alternative education. 112 or 93% of the target 120 students who are struggling readers have improved reading skills and transitioned to the next grade level. To continuously support children`s need for quality education, 118 (48-Males & 70-Females) trained peer tutors lead the implementation of the activity. These students developed study habits and improved their grades and even belong to honor roll. Six (6) struggling readers became tutors. These peer tutors received an award. 153 children have been provided with socialized educational assistance and 100% of these are successfully transitioned to the next grade level. “I felt I had been a good help to my co-students for them to be able to read and appreciate the beautiful experience of reading with comprehension.. I now dream of becoming a successful teacher after having experience teaching my co-students how to read” a peer tutor shared thought 35 trained teachers are continuously applying the child friendly methodologies. The ENRICH project is gradually mainstreamed as the schools are incorporating their reading intervention and modified it based on the need of the students. It is noteworthy that all the 24 covered elementary schools have enhanced School Improvement Plan and applying child friendly methodologies “It was amazing to see how struggling readers become interested and confident reading the materials prepared during the Summer Camp. It inspired me to prepare some creative reading materials after the camping to continue what was started in the camp” – a reflection shared by one of the teachers Domain: Children and young adolescents are healthy and actively participate in community life.Pathway : Positive Engagement for CYA CYAs are provided with opportunities within the family and community to voice their opinions and participation. 23 Barangay Children`s Association with a member of 289 (152 females and 137 males) are supported by the Barangay Local Government Unit in implementing their Makabatang Programa and Child Development Sessions. Involvement of municipalities of Real and Infanta supported the children`s associations and volunteers in the medical mission as part of culminating activity of Children`s Month celebration. 1,290 children are actively participating to thematic child development session such as Fire & Earthquake Drill, First Aid Training, Personal Hygiene where they increased awareness on how to protect themselves and understand their responsibility and strengthen their participation. “ Thank you to ReINa and Bureau of Fire of Real,Quezon . Sentillas—BCA -Real , Quezon Pathway : Community based child protection mechanisms 52 teachers and Child Protection Committees from covered schools were oriented on Positive Discipline in relation to Deped Order No. 40 which promotes their role to protect children inside and outside school premises from different forms of abuse also by practicing positive discipline at school. Gulayan sa Paaralan was also supported through Bio-Intensive Gardening by provision of training, seedlings, tools and seeds that the harvested vegetables will be used for the school canteen in support particular to those malnourished students. 1,082 families are now prepared to disasters referring to their Gabay at Mapa sa Listong Pamilyang Pilipino along with the E-baldes; changes in the attitude of children having the knowledge on what to do whenever a disaster strikes and therefore not panic; and due to increased self-confidence they learned to open up to other children can engage in a conversation and socialize with others. 355 children improved skills and knew access on disaster risk management 3 CBCPM (Agos-Agos, Banugao, & Pilaway) contributed funds from their BCPC budget and implemented activities for the capacity building of school DRR capacity enhancement for their pupils and School Based DRR plan.
